Sharing Photos And People’s Choice in Art

The Truckee Opening was a full evening. I had the opportunity to share both Paintings and sculptures. I am so grateful for the interest despite the thunderstorms. There was a nice turnout for the talk at 6 pm and questions during the demonstration of the processing of pigments and raw clays. I was able to introduce the audience to the set of sculptured reindeer, each representing an aspect of a working community. For example, “The watcher”, a tall white sculpture with highly textured clay body and dotted with pigment colors, represents the reindeer that watches over the herd while they graze or drink from a stream. Another, a tall black ochre reindeer carries the wisdom of the community. A small red reindeer rests peacefully surrounded by the sacred red ochre. Each reindeer carries a different story with an opening at the back of their heads where cave art and signs are painted inside. Here are some photos of the event.

On another note: I entered a “People’s Choice” online voting for Art. I hadn’t realized what this fully meant but now I am a part of it. Apparently it is sponsored by Johnny Depp. Anyway, if you are so moved, click the link below to add your vote to my Art. Thank you in advance. I appreciate the support. I see that the link connects with Face Book. Enjoy as always, each new day. Jennifer

All moved up the street from the Piper J Gallery. Art Walk and Opening is 4 pm – 7 pm. I will be giving a short talk at 6 pm on the sculptures, raw clays and pigments, the hiking and processing with a demonstration working in raw clays and pit firing. You are welcome to come early.

I’ll be setting up at 3 pm. Hope to see you there or make a day visit to Truckee during the month of May with Spring skies. Enjoy! Jennifer

New Art, New Show: Ancient Earth Inspirations

Hello!

It has been a long while…With the New Year, family obligations and Art demands, it has taken me needed time to sort through the challenges, Art studio fun and the care of my-self.  As we are well into 2026, my hope is that all is well with you, family and life.  For me I feel I am discovering new possibilities in my Art endeavors.  Already this year, I am finding, processing and developing new pigments and raw clays which lead to exciting explorations in Art. Two pit-fires and several paintings later my creative means are expanding.  I LOVE what I do! It brings me such joy to share what I do to make pigments, to paint and to build with raw clays.

If you are at all interested in joining me in gathering, processing or using raw clays and pigments in Art, please let me know. Send me an email for yourself or even a small group and we can put together some dates. June through October are good months.*

*I plan to do two more pit-fires in April-May weather permitting…that is rain and wet weather are best! …And to do some clay and pigment gathering and processing, too.

Here are some possible dates:  April 11, 12 or 18, 19 or 25, 26 or May 2, 3 or 9, 10 or 16, 17.

I look forward to sharing my new Art space.

I’ll have demonstrations on processing and mixing minerals and ochres into paints, preparing wood canvasses, and painting. New works are in the Gallery.
